Ukraine EXISTS Project of art and truth. Exhibition of honest documentary of Donbass and painting of independent Ukraine.

Ukraine is a young European state with Kyiv as a capital city, which has extended along fertile lands from the mountainous Carpathians to the steppes of Donbass, from the north coniferous woods of Chernihiv region to the south rocks of the Crimea. It is the country founded by the peace-loving and strong people, who have been creating their tempestuous history from the time of the Kievan Rus State till nowadays. Contemporary Ukraine is an example of adamantine strength of mind, patriotism, everyday hard work and struggle for the right to become a full member of the European society, in economics, politics and culture.

The Revolution of Dignity and the war in the east of Ukraine (2013-2015) have set a thorny issue of self-identification before the national art. They enforced to disclose the sense and essence of own culture, which for some period of time existed in the conditions of vacuum and isolation from international mainstream. An eastern Russian neighbour’s turning from a relatively kind to aggressively disposed one, which Ukraine has paid and goes on paying at a heavy cost, has activated nationally-identification and patriotic sentiment among millions of citizens. It has hardened their spirit and enhanced their longing for self-sustained development. Creative stratum was one of the first to respond to the changes within the country. That is why during the last two years unbelievable emotionally-spiritual uplift is observed among the artists. And it is particularly externalized in art and documental works.

There is the main — existential — idea of the exhibition in its name “Ukraine EXISTS”! We are showing that Ukraine EXISTS!

Through internal and external challenges, overcoming the war, economical and political crisis we are developing. The Ukrainian society, culture and art are developing. We are proving that Ukraine is a part of the civilized world. We are the state which is tearing itself away from the Soviet past and aims to fill thesignificant place in the global states’ family.

The aim of the Ukraine EXISTS project is to popularize contemporary Ukrainian visual art and to get out true-to-life details about Donbass conflict to the world community.
